Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the knowledge of BPE students on Ilonggo folk dances. The respondents of the study were the 50 purposively selected Bachelor of Physical Education students, major in Dance, of the College of PESCAR enrolled during the academic year 2012-2013. The researchers-made checklist which was composed of 20 questions was used to gather data. Results showed that the respondents were very knowledgeable on Ilonggo folk dances when they were taken as an entire group. When they were classified as to sex, males were "very knowledgeable" while females were only "knowledgeable." As to program graduated from, regular class was "knowledgeable" while those from Special Science Class (SSC) and Special Program for the Arts (SPA) graduates were "very knowledgeable." t-test and one way ANOVA set at .05 alpha revealed that there is no significant difference existed on knowledge of BPE students on the Ilonggo folk dances when classified as to sex and type of secondary school curricular program attended.
