Abstract

Describes the Spanish colonial origins of Santacruzan and its Biblical characters Esther, Judith, Mary, and Mary Magadalene. The Santacruzan is further described as a people’s procession for having mixed colonial and anticolonial figures, and adding characters depending on the country’s historical and cultural context.
