Abstract

Page in the website of Ballet Philippines.––Edna Vida's performing and creative career brought her recognition as one of the leading dance artists in the Philippines today. She essayed leading roles in full length classical ballets with the American Ballet Theater stars of New York City such as Natalia Makarova, Martine Van Hammel, Fernando Bujones, John Meehan, Patrick Bisell and Yoko Morishita. She is best remembered as the Firebird, Carmen and Myrtha in Giselle with Makarova and Morishita as well as in major roles in the works of renowned choreographers Pauline Koner, Norman Walker, Alfred Rodriguez, George Balanchine, Doris Humphrey, Alice Reyes, Cora Inigo, Gener Caringal, Agnes Locsin and Denisa Reyes.
